We had 14 riders of the 990 that participated this weekend. Each had his/her own personal experience and perspective.
Rather than bore you with all the emotion, physical issues and heartache that I felt from my own performance, I thought I would focus on the TEAM.
There are two things that I think came out of this weekend that will endure:
* Team headstrong established itself as one of the dominant women's teams in the SE.
* Giselle established herself as one of top racers in the SE.
Here is a summary:
TT - Friday night it was hot as hell and thunderstorms were all over as they were all weekend. We had 6 riders on the course and I think we all delivered PR performances. Giselle was first in the Pro/1/2/3 group by 45 seconds and Gillespie was 18th!! The 4's were dominant as KP took 2nd, Teenie was 6th and Brady was 7th out of about 25 racers. I got 7th just behind and in front of two nationally ranked guys which bodes well for me a Nationals.
RR - We had all 14 folks at the line on Sat and Tom lead the men in a very competitive field with a 13th placement. G, again took 1st via a 3 person break. The 4's took 2nd(KP), 3rd(Stratton), 7th(Emily) and 12th(Beth).
CRIT - Sunday, the men besides me, set out but the women came on strong. G lead Sam out for 5th in the Pro/1/2/3's and got 6th herself. KP got up from a crash and finished 5th. Brady(11th) and Teenie(14th) rounded out the Cat 4 effort.
Here are the full Omnium results for teh TEAM:
Women's Pro 1/2/3 -
1st - Giselle Weekes
19th - Samantha Smith
24th - Debbie Gillespie
Women's Cat 4
2nd - Kristin Phillips
6th - Kristi Stratton
13th - Emily Wood
17th - Elizabeth Brady
18th - Christina Maddox
20th - Beth Hoffmeister
Men's - Masters 50+
21st - Tom Reynolds
Men's - Masters 60+
7th - Randall Maddox
This was a great weekend of racing and great team event. Great job, TEAM!
Oh, I almost forgot, Cristina Lindsey who is coming on for 2011, was 1st in TT, 4th in RR, 1st in Crit and the Cat 4 Omnium winner!
I'd say we look pretty tough for 2011!

It WAS a great weekend! That was certainly one of the hardest RR courses I've ever done...it was clear that we have some amazing climbers on this team. Thanks for summarizing the results, Randall!
Did anyone else enjoy themselves????
First, I'd like to express admiration and respect for all of you who did the omnium. What a tough three days of racing.
Second, the rr itself was enough for me, but I did have fun, in a weird sort of way. I learned a few things racing with the 1/2/3s and still don't know the answer to the question: Is it legal (in a USAcycling race) to hop on a different category's peliton? I heard yes and no from reliable people, so anyone know?
Special thanks to Goat for informing me that I spelled peloton incorrectly. I need a good editor.
Drafting on a rider from another group is something I questioned the officials about. They agreed it was OK if it was not the MAIN FIELD of a group. The MAIN FIELD will have moto with it.
I had a blast in that crit. Finally got over my fear of cornering. Nothing like immersion in fire! Thanks G for your lead-in at the end. Debbie - gave me courage just knowing you were in there.
